Laptop Buying Guide for 2019

Greetings tech junkies and gaming aficionados. If you have been following our website, you probably know that we have provided you with PC building guides and tips on pretty much anything that we could think of so far, but admittingly, we have neglected to talk about laptops, but that doesn’t mean that we have forgotten about the little portable computers and all you laptop lovers out there.

In order to correct our mistake, we have decided to share our 2019 laptop buying guide. Before we go any further, keep in mind that this is our list and that it may differ from your own opinion. With that out of the way, let’s get straight into the thick of things.

1. Huawei MateBook 13

To get the ball rolling, we have decided to take a look at a laptop that we consider to be somewhere in the middle when it comes to performance, quality, and price. The laptop in question is also commonly sold and used by many and has become very popular which is why we are opening our list with Huawei MateBook 13.

Huawei has unleashed a monster onto the market and this monster might currently be the best laptop available and offers great performance both when gaming and when using it as a small personal workstation. The MateBook 13 contains a lot of great components such as Nvidia MX150 graphics which make it offer the good performance that it does. The laptop comes with a sleek lightweight design but what you might like best of all is its price.

Usually one would expect such a laptop to come at an astronomically high price, but not MateBook 13. While the price is nothing to sneeze at, for a laptop such as this, it is not that bad either and it comes at around $1100.

  • CPU: 8th generation Intel Core i5 – i7
  • Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 620, Nvidia GeForce MX150 2GB GDDR5
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Screen: 13-inch 1440p (2,160 x 1,440)
  • Storage: 256GB – 512GB SSD

2. Dell XPS 13

Dell XPS 13 has been around for quite some time and was considered to be one of the best laptops one year after another and apparently, that tradition continues on into 2019 during which we have gotten a new and improved Dell XPS 13. Depending on the model, this particular laptop comes equipped with an eighth generation Intel I5 or I7 processor which offers the already famous Intel’s magnificent performance.

Additionally, Dell has decided to heed the words of their customers and move the webcam to the center of the screen near the top. Other than that, it has remained a reliable laptop that it has always been and can be obtained for around $950.

  • CPU: 8th generation Intel Core i5 – i7
  • Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • RAM: 8GB – 16GB
  • Screen: 13.3-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) – 4k (3840 x 2160)
  • Storage: 256GB – 1TB SSD

3. Asus ZenBook Flip S UX370

This laptop has got a lot of things going for it and Asus have done a great job in making a powerful beast of a laptop. Asus ZenBook Flip S UX370 comes with a new Kaby Lake R 8th generation processor, a plethora of RAM and an extremely fast PCIe SSD which make its fast performance really noticeable and separates it from the rest of the common rabble. However, all of this comes at a pretty expensive price which is to be expected considering the laptop’s performance and specifications. Asus ZenBook Flip S UX370 is available for purchase for a price of around $2300.

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8550U
  • Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • RAM: 16GB | Screen: 13.3-inch full HD touchscreen
  • Storage: 512GB PCIe SSD

4. Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 13-inch 2018

Our next candidate for one of the best laptops of 2019 is actually a MacBook. While it is by far not the best laptop out there, Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 13-inch 2018 is currently one of the best MacBooks that Apple has to offer and if you are a fan of MacBooks, then you probably know that it comes at a hefty price just like every other Apple product, in this case, the price is also somewhere around $2300. The performance of it is good but when compared to other laptops that are available at a similar price, it finds itself lacking a bit.

  • CPU: Quad-core Intel Core i5 – i7
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655
  • RAM: 8GB – 16GB
  • Screen: 13.3-inch, (2,560 x 1,600) IPS
  • Storage: 128GB – 2TB PCIe 3.0 SSD

5. Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701

Lastly, we have decided to incorporate a real gaming beast of a laptop on the list and while some of you out there might argue that desktops are better for gaming and that laptops don’t provide the same pleasure and performance, we would argue that they can and that they do provide that you can afford it that is.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 comes with a six-core Intel PSU and the latest RTX 2080 graphics which are all components that are right at the top of the market when it comes to performance. This particular laptop runs smooth, without issues and will allow you to fully enjoy any video game title at a steady framerate, but it comes with its own set of flaws. We would list its price as one of them since the laptop costs $3200.

It also has a shorter than average battery life which is not that surprising considering the parts that the battery has to power up.

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 (8GB GDDR6 VRAM, Max-Q)
  • RAM: 24GB
  • Screen: 17.3-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) 144Hz panel
  • Storage: 1TB M.2 SSD
